Josh, I was really taken with your pair of tweets this morning about how, as David Ben-Gurion said Jews should “Fight the White Paper as if there was no War, and fight the War as if there was no White Paper,” so should we fight Israel-haters as if there was no Israeli Right with zero interest in peace, and fight the anti-peace Right as if there were no Israel-haters.
If you think it’s hard for Jews . . .
I suppose it is easier being non-Jewish because, theoretically there isn’t the emotional baggage to carry, but there is the baggage to confront. I guess you just have to look past the yelling assholes of the crowd that yell jump at people on ledges, and try and keep it in the realm of common sense and decency.
But I truly think that a peaceful political resolution of the issue is in American, Israeli and Palestinians self interest. Peace isn’t really rocket science, it’s a matter of emotions, manipulation and an unwillingness of most people to think.
