Like a family and all. Good short read. It won’t fly in America because 80 percent attend Church so they can be forgiven for not being Christians. With a Jewish Tithe, you can feel that way too. Of course there are many that will say “Lord! Lord!, in that day, but…” Of course Acts kinda brings this up too. I didn’t read any Scriptures that said “except…”
Buying Into The Program
In a sane political world, Press The Meat this Sunday would be a very interesting show. This is because over the past couple of days it’s become obvious that Karl Rove is selling the line that he found out about Plame from Libby and that Libby says that his source for the Plame leak was none other than Tim Russert. It’s long past time that the King of the Kewl Kids got the kind of treatment that Judy Miller has received. He’s up to his neck in this thing.
But it is also about a toxic political culture in the nation’s capital that has abdicated its responsibility to behave within certain norms of decent behavior. After eight long years of being fed the juiciest tabloid lies from a masterful Republican disinformation campaign and a group of friendly GOP special prosecutors, the media became joined with the republican establishment and took on its cheap ethics and ruthless attitudes. They began to identify with them. They helped them destroy Bill Clinton’s reputation and piled-on to keep Al Gore from the presidency with a puerile smear campaign which they admitted to waging just because they found it amusing. And when George W. Bush became president, their condescending refrain to the majority of the country who didn’t vote for him was “get over it.”
Yeah, what he said.
May the Peace of the Living God be upon those who freed him.
Abducted Guardian journalist is freed
Ewen MacAskill, Angelique Chrisafis and Ian Prior in Dublin
Friday October 21, 2005
Rory Carroll, the Guardian journalist kidnapped in Baghdad on Wednesday, was freed last night after 36 hours in captivity in a dark underground cell.
Carroll phoned the Guardian to confirm that his captors, whom he described as Shia opportunists, had released him into the hands of the Iraqi government.
The end came when one of his captors received a mobile phone call and unbolted the door to the cell, telling him he was free to go. “He put me in the boot of his car and drove me alone and dropped me in the middle of Baghdad,” Carroll said.
May God bring Peace to that nation.
Here is the full transcript of Col. Lawrence Wilkerson’s speech yesterday, including Q&A.

Strange days indeed.
I agree. Sadly, Kos’s prediction that Democrats would vote with Coburn turned out to be incorrect. But Kos is hammering the Democrats
It’s embarrassing that Feingold was the only Democrat voting for it. What a great way to show the country that Democrats are the party of fiscal responsibility. Sheez… This is becoming a gross failure by both parties and the institution of government.
Yes, it is. I also agree with Kos when he says: “Those who voted against these amendments have zero credibility on issues of fiscal responsibility. Zero. And by the way, Feingold is starting to look really good for ’08.”
You might send a bull to DC, but all you get back are heifers. BTW, don’t eat the Rocky Mountain Oysters there, son, there tainted.
Roll call is over, and the amendment failed 15-82. This is becoming a gross failure by both parties and the institution of government.
Update: FYI, the reason senators would vote against these amendments is because if any of them pass, it puts every single pork project in their own states in danger. What Coburn has done is allowed a challenge to every single pork line item. As well as it should be. Let each project stand on its own.
Update II: It was easier to keep tally of the meager few “yes” votes than write in the tons of senators which put the politics of personal pork above the national interest. A $223 million bridge serving 50 people was more important to these people than rebuilding storm-battered New Orleans.
Simply unconscionable. Those who voted against these amendments have zero credibility on issues of fiscal responsibility. Zero.
Pardon Me, Your slip is Showing
The Ace of Wankers
Jack Balkin reminds us of the president’s ace – the pardon power – and Robert Parry tells us, among plenty of other things, that Richard Cohen has long been a wanker. He quotes from a 1992 column about the pardon of Casper Weinberger:
“Liberal” Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen spoke for many of his colleagues when he defended Bush’s fatal blow against the Iran-Contra investigation. Cohen especially liked Bush’s pardon of former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger, who had been indicted for obstruction of justice but was popular around Washington.
In a Dec. 30, 1992, column, Cohen said his view was colored by how impressed he was when he would see Weinberger in the Georgetown Safeway store, pushing his own shopping cart.
“Based on my Safeway encounters, I came to think of Weinberger as a basic sort of guy, candid and no nonsense – which is the way much of official Washington saw him,” Cohen wrote. “Cap, my Safeway buddy, walks, and that’s all right with me.”
It’s what you get when turkeys stand on the shoulders of giants.
Jonathan Lieberman, Journalist being Sued
Remember way back when (okay, only a year ago), Sinclair Broadcasting decided to run an anti-Kerry Swift Boat infomercial on its stations across the country. A popular outcry and a lot of truly spontaneous grassroots activism made them pull-back, at least part of the way. But a big rock rolled into the road for them when their DC Bureau Chief, one Jonathan Lieberman took a stand, gave an interview to the Balitmore Sun, and called the effort “biased political propaganda, with clear intentions to sway this election … For me, it’s not about right or left — it’s about what’s right or wrong in news coverage this close to an election.”
So Sinclair is suing him for giving the interveiw? Gives a whole new meaning to the term Capitalist Pigs.
Maybe the blogosphere can organize a legal defense fund, after all we don’t have to like what he said to support his right to say it. It would be kinda like living in America.

Thanks, all, for participating, thank to all who sent u Q’s. We asked as many as we could, some were answered, but we teed up Q’s of energy and legal reform to just about everyone, want to keep it on the top of the mind, top of the pile. It’s a little after 1:45, and we’re now adjourned. Eric Cantor finished up, finished well.
His coda: “Our job is to provide an environment for the private sector to grow.”
What a concept. May it be ever thus.

Yeah may it ever be thus.
“Wanker”‘s just another word for nothing left to lose
But the Washington Post can’t really criticize Judy Miller or the Times. That because, in many ways, its pre-war reporting in 2002 and 2003 was worse than anything that Miller did. In New York, it was a corrupted reporter taking advantage of lax or lenient management. In Washington, it was the paper’s management itself– both the editors making news judgments and the Post’s editorial board — that commited the majority of the journalistic outrages.
And that’s the way it is…
“I don’t think the voters care about this,” Ralph Reed on his role on the Jack Abramoff gambling gravy train. “The reason why we didn’t know every detail was because we were a subcontractor. And, by definition, a subcontractor is told only what they need to do to do their job.”
Brother Ralph, this may be put into a political context only if one does not represent themselves as a leader of the Christian community as you have done. Like a dog returning to its’ vomit, are you returning to the baser things as well? Repent and turn around. You are not so private a citizen, and those who oppose Christ mock his power because of your statements, and activities.
Think Progress compiled a terrific list this week on the right’s myths regarding the Plame scandal. Point by point, the list explains what conservatives say to dismiss the seriousness of the scandal and why they’re wrong. It’s a handy resource.
But even the clever folks at Think Progress couldn’t have anticipated what Roll Call’s Mort Kondracke would tell Fox News viewers a few days ago.
Not really surprising if you ever watch FOX, but someday it would be nice if they would quit thinking with their crotches,( Steve,) and start just telling the truth about other things as well. There is nothing inherently wrong about being a conservative, which is more slack than liberals get from the looney tuner right, but can we at least get a little hint of decency?

Secretive Cabal Running U.S. Foreign Policy is Undermining America’s Democracy
Read George Packer’s book The Assassin’s Gate if you haven’t already. George Packer, a New Yorker, reporter for The New Yorker, has got it right. I just finished it and I usually put marginalia in a book but, let me tell you, I had to get extra pages to write on.
And I wish, I wish I had been able to help George Packer write that book. In some places I could have given him a hell of a lot more specifics than he’s got. But if you want to read how the Cheney Rumsfeld cabal flummoxed the process, read that book. And, of course, there are other names in there, Under Secretary of Defense Douglas [inaudible], whom most of you probably know Tommy Frank said was stupidest blankety blank man in the world. He was. Let me testify to that. He was. Seldom in my life have I met a dumber man.
Face it, America. You’ve been punk’d.
It is now quite clear that the outing of Valerie Plame was part of a broader White House effort to mislead and manipulate U.S. public opinion as part of an orchestrated effort to take us to war. The unraveling of the Valerie Plame affair has exposed their scam—and it extends well beyond compromising the identity of a CIA officer. In short, the Bush administration organized and executed a classic “covert action” program against the citizens of the United States.
Covert action refers to behind-the-scenes efforts by U.S. intelligence agencies to plant stories, manipulate information and shape public opinion. In other words, you write stories that reporters will publish as their own, you create media events that tout a particular theme, and you demonize your opponent. Traditionally, this activity was directed against foreign governments. For example, the U.S. used covert action extensively in Greece in the 1960s to help fend off communists. Covert action also played a major role in rallying world support for the Afghanistan mujahideen following the Soviet invasion in 1979.
Revelations during the past week about the Plame affair make it clear that the Bush administration used covert action against its own citizens. Consider, for example, the charge that Iraq was trying to buy uranium from Niger. The key event in this disinformation campaign was the intelligence manufactured by the Italians. The Italian intelligence service, SISME, provided the CIA with three separate intelligence reports that Iraq had reached an agreement with Niger to buy 500 tons of yellowcake uranium (October 15, 2001; February 5, 2002; and March 25, 2002). The second report, from February, was the subsequent basis for a DIA analysis, which led Vice President Cheney to ask the CIA for more information on the matter. That request led to the CIA asking Ambassador Joe Wilson to go check out the story in Niger.
Larry Johnson worked as a CIA intelligence analyst and State Department counter-terrorism official. He is a member of the Steering Group of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS).
The link is busted on this post, but don’t let that stop you from using the wheel and scrolling down to read this, because it is the proverbial de ja hammer vu.
It isn’t just Pitchfork Pat and the Gargler who are coughing up furball apologetics for institutional thuggery, it’s also such nominal liberals as Tom Oliphant, Richard Cohen, and Jacob Weisberg, dubbed Eschaton’s Wanker of the Day. Some of the same so-called liberals who worked themselves into a capuccino froth about Clinton’s Monica lie shrug off the outing of Valerie Plame and the larger campaign to mislead the country into war in Iraq as no biggie even American troops and Iraqis continue to die and F16s continue to pound targets in the very country we occupy.
This is in reference to Pat Langs piece at Semper Sic Tyrannus 2005.
Update: Personally I doubt four or five years is going to be enough time to pacify Iraq, but that may be the cynical expectation of American Imperial competence. In nearly every endeavor the Federal government is a failure excepting graft and corruption, at which it is quite formidable although it is only competent in hiding it from the MSM.
US policy and the ‘Oval Office cabal’
By Jim Lobe
WASHINGTON – As top officials in the White House and Vice President Dick Cheney’s office await possible criminal indictments for their efforts to discredit a whistle-blower, a top aide to former secretary of state, Colin Powell, on Wednesday accused a “cabal” led by Cheney and Pentagon chief Donald Rumsfeld of hijacking US foreign policy by circumventing or ignoring formal decision-making channels.
Interestingly, none of this surprises some of us second rate minds. What is surprising is that the third rate minds in the MSM have finally got a clue.
NEW YORK – Widely publicized tsunami recovery efforts undertaken by relief agencies and governments in five disaster-affected countries – Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and the Maldives – remain hampered by incompetence, corruption, discrimination and lack of public accountability, according to a new report.
“Tsunami survivors, like many victims of Hurricane Katrina [in the United States], are angry and frustrated,” said Laurel Fletcher, co-author of the study titled “After the Tsunami: Human Rights of Vulnerable Populations”, released by the University of California’s Berkeley Human Rights Center.
Meanwhile, last week’s South Asian earthquake, which killed more than 79,000 in Pakistan, is the latest in a year of some of the worst disasters ever seen, “yet governments have failed to respond adequately and lives have been lost as a result,” Oxfam International says in a second report.
The thrust of the Oxfam report, titled “2005: Year of Disasters”, is that the number of people affected by natural disasters has climbed dramatically over the last decade, with tens of millions of people affected in the past year alone.
The report says the response to these emergencies has been characterized by an uneven, often-late and sometimes-inefficient international humanitarian performance that has been undermined by inadequate funding for the UN’s vital appeals.
“It is a race against time to save the lives of these people,” Annan said. “This is a huge, huge disaster … perhaps the biggest ever that we have seen … and at the time of the cold season.”
“I would hope that the international community will respond and those with capacity will do everything possible to work with us and work with the Pakistani government.”
All essential infrastructure has been destroyed in the area, including roads, water systems, hospitals, schools and government buildings, Annan said explaining that some remote areas have still not been reached because of the difficult terrain.
He called for a major increase in funds, noting that donors had only made firm commitments for 12%, or £20 million of the UN appeal for £173 million. By comparison, he said, the UN flash appeal after last December’s tsunami was more than 80% funded within 10 days of the disaster.
As you sow, so shall you reap. These are not the times to think that disaster will not befall you, because most assuredly your time is coming too. I repeat, these things are not over by a long shot.

The Vice President’s DNA imprint is all over the OSP, and the Niger uranium fiasco. NESA is headed up by his daughter, Elizabeth. Those infamous sixteen words that got into the President’s State of the Union – the single most important speech on our chief executive’s calendar – had to be retracted by a White House that rarely admits error. Somebody is going to pay, and my guess is it’s going to be the Vice President and/or Libby.
Libby has already been implicated as the Spy-gate leaker by Larry Johnson, a former CIA officer who worked with Ms. Plame while she was in training. As Marc Rich’s lawyer for 15 years, Libby has some interesting connections. The fugitive billionaire who renounced his U.S. citizenship rather than face prosecution for fraud and tax evasion secured his pardon due to an extraordinary campaign engineered, in large part, by Libby. Intense pressure was brought to bear on then President Clinton, who was heavily lobbied by Ehud Barak and American Jewish leaders. This campaign was motivated, at least in part, by services Rich reportedly rendered to Israeli intelligence.
This why the Larry Franklin case is getting tied into the Plame investigation. Can you see the dots now?
I sincerely wish the Iraqi people good fortune and good luck with their future, that someday the wounds will heal from an illegal war against that nation, no matter how noble the cause of liberty might be, because this war and this affair were never about that anyway. All the politicall window dressing has been a lie, paid for with the blood of those who have yet to understand the politics of greed, however often they pay the price.
Travis County court officials said DeLay was ordered to appear at the Fort Bend County, Texas, jail for booking, where he’d likely be fingerprinted and photographed. DeLay’s lawyers had hoped to avoid such a spectacle.

When the Rock Rolls
Now gather yourself together, daughter of a troop; one sets a siege against us. They shall strike the Judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek. And you, Bethlehem Ephratah, being least among the thousands of Judah, out of you He shall come forth to Me to become One ruling in Israel; and His goings forth have been from of old, from the days of eternity.
So He will give them over until the time the one giving birth has given birth. Then the rest of His brothers shall return to the sons of Israel. And He shall stand and feed in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah His God. And they shall sit, for now He is great to the ends of the earth. And this One shall be peace. When Assyria shall come into our land, and when he shall walk in our palaces, then we shall raise against him seven shepherds and eight anointed ones of man. And they shall depasture the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at her entrances. And He shall deliver us from Assyria, when he comes into our land, and when he treads within our border.
And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers on a blade of grass, which does not wait for man, nor delay for the sons of men. And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep (who both tramples and tears in pieces if he passes through) and there is no one to snatch back.
Mic 5:9 Your hands shall be high above your foes, and all your enemies shall be cut off.
And it shall be in that day, I will cut off your horses out of your midst, and I will destroy your chariots, declares Jehovah. And I will cut off the cities of your land and pull down all your fortresses. And I will cut off sorceries out of your hand, and there shall not be ones divining. And I also will cut off your graven images and your pillars from your midst. And you shall not any more worship the work of your hands. And I will pluck your shrines from your midst, and I will destroy your cities. And I will execute vengeance in anger and in fury on the nations, such as they have not heard.
Last week the entire country was declared a disaster area by its president. Aid agencies warn that nearly half the country’s 12 million population could starve in the next six months without massive and immediate food donations. So far, it has not been forthcoming. The UN World Food Programme still needs $76m (£43.3m) to feed 2.9 million Malawians until the harvest in April. Sheila Sisulu, deputy executive director of the WFP, described international inaction over Malawi as “deplorable”.

That Kerry and the spineless Ohio and national Democratic Parties have been complicit is a crucial part of the problem much of the left also seems unwilling to face. But if you live in Franklin County, Ohio, and watch the Republican and Democratic Parties run joint pickets against progressive candidate, and cut backroom deals allowing incumbents of either party run unopposed, you may miss the full scope of the disaster.
And until the left faces the rot that defines the Democratic Party, there is no hope for a fair election in this country. In other words: those who think the White House can be retaken in 2008, but refuse to face the theft of the vote in 2004, should prepare to be ruled by the likes of Jeb Bush, now and forever.

It’s increasingly clear that the strategy of McCain’s opponents — the Vice President and his congressional supporters — will be to amend the McCain Amendment in the Conference Committee so as to exempt the CIA from the prohibition on cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of detainees. The Senate delegation to the Conference Committee presumably will include three of the nine Republicans who voted against the McCain Amendment — Ted Stevens, Thad Cochran and Kit Bond. A recent Congressional Quarterly article, reprinted here, reports Stevens — who would “lead the Senate’s conferees” — as saying that “he can support McCain’s language if it’s augmented with guidance that enables certain classified interrogations to proceed under different terms.” “‘I’m talking about people who aren’t in uniform, may or may not be citizens of the United States, but are working for us in very difficult circumstances,’ Stevens said. ‘And sometimes interrogation and intimidation is part of the system.”
I don’t know how anyone who professes to be a Christian, Muslim or Jew could support, condone or vote for these people so as to give them authority and power to do these unGodly things. This behavior is unacceptable.
As I said previously, Christians will need to decide which authority they adhere to, that of God or that of man. You cannot serve two masters.

The East China Sea situation is becoming increasingly volatile. Tensions have been high since last month when a Chinese Navy destroyer aimed its guns at a Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force P3-C surveillance plane near the disputed waters of the Chunxiao gas field in the East China Sea. Five Chinese Navy warships have also recently been observed prowling in the same area.
And the Japanese news agency Kyodo this week reported that China last month sent a spy plane, the third in two months, to the disputed East China Sea area to collect data on Japanese military vessels operating there.
A senior Japanese diplomat, who did not wish to be identified said: “It will be difficult for either Japan or China to compromise in this dispute, but failure to do so could create a very dangerous situation. We issued China an ultimatum at the previous talks [at the beginning of October], and made it clear that the issue must be resolved in the next and final round of negotiations scheduled for October 19. If we do not reach a satisfactory settlement, the Japanese public’s patience is likely to reach breaking point.”

John Embry and Andrew Hepburn provide a valuable entry into the world of finance. The two analysts illuminate the shadowy trail of the “Plunge Protection Team” in its apparent mission to rig the American stock markets.
Their account is backed up by considerable indirect evidence, as well as statements by credible insiders. If their account is correct, it means that US markets look a lot like the Japanese markets that were long derided for being subject to repeated official manipulation. A more important conclusion may be that US markets are even shakier than many believe.
Who would think! I am shocked, Shocked! I tell you, that gambling is going on in this place.

Sir John Skehel, a distinguished influenza expert, said that in his experience there has not been a bird flu virus quite like the H5N1 strain that is affecting south-east Asia, Turkey and Romania. “This is an unusual situation,” Sir John admitted. “Since we’ve been recording there hasn’t been the spread of a single virus as widely as the H5 virus.”
Nor has there been so many genetic modifications done by mankind to manipulate small things. These things aren’t falling off the moon.
I would advise folks, like the Vietnameese, who drink duck blood, and those Germanics who like blood sausages and puddings to reconsider their culinary choices.

The Sunday Telegraph warned last weekend that the UN had a last chance to avert war with Iran and, at a meeting in London last week, the US ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, expressed his regret that any failure by the UN security council to deal with Iran would damage the security council’s relevance, implying that the US would solve the problem on its own.
Only days before, the foreign secretary, Jack Straw, had dismissed military action as “inconceivable” while both the American president and his secretary of state had insisted war talk was not on the agenda. The UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors have found that Iran has not, so far, broken its commitments under the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, although it has concealed activities before.
It appears that the UK and US have decided to raise the stakes in the confrontation with Iran. The two countries persuaded the IAEA board – including India – to overrule its inspectors, declare Iran in breach of the non-proliferation treaty (NPT) and say that Iran’s activities could be examined by the UN security council. Critics of this political process point to the fact that India itself has developed nuclear weapons and refused to join the NPT, but has still voted that Iran is acting illegitimately. On the Iranian side there is also much belligerent talk and pop music now proudly speaks of the nuclear contribution to Iranian security.
What we are seeing here is the overt push to war with Iran, (which if you recall the shoot down of the U2 that crashed in Oman last spring,) is in conjunction with the covert war already being fought. The events in Russia earlier this month may have US/UK fingerprints al over them, since Russia refuses to cooperate with the Anglo Amerikan designs on Iranian soveriegnty, which may have as much to do with the “Grand Game”, as it does to do with the oil resources that are feeding Indian and Chineese economic engines.
The violation of a sovereign nation’s airspace is an act of war in and of itself. But the war with Iran has gone far beyond the intelligence-gathering phase.
President Bush has taken advantage of the sweeping powers granted to him in the aftermath of 11 September 2001, to wage a global war against terror and to initiate several covert offensive operations inside Iran.
The most visible of these is the CIA-backed actions recently undertaken by the Mujahadeen el-Khalq, or MEK, an Iranian opposition group, once run by Saddam Hussein’s dreaded intelligence services, but now working exclusively for the CIA’s Directorate of Operations.
It is bitter irony that the CIA is using a group still labelled as a terrorist organisation, a group trained in the art of explosive assassination by the same intelligence units of the former regime of Saddam Hussein, who are slaughtering American soldiers in Iraq today, to carry out remote bombings in Iran of the sort that the Bush administration condemns on a daily basis inside Iraq.
This type of activity really should not surprise anyone familiar with the American senses of fair play, Christianity, and rule of law. That the rest of the world goes blithly along with it may be surprising to some, but India has never been a friend of the American people, nor can we conclude that the British peoples feelings for the American cousins will translate into proper behavior from their government. The Brits are as lied to and naive as Americans, and to think that genocide is not an Anglo Saxon trait is to deny the historical record.
There are those of us however, who must raise a warning, not only to the people of the Axis of Saxons, but to their governments as well. So let them be forewarned, that Jehovah has put a ring in their noses, and a bridle in their mouths, and is leading them where he wishes to go. Let the Christians then exert themselves to to do all the things commanded to do by the Lord Christ Jesus, or they too, shall suffer the coming destruction as well. There is no longer any nuetral ground. You may support the Kingdom of God, or the kingdoms of the Earth, but you may not serve to masters, and the shaking out and threshing has already begun. Choose wisely brothers and sisters, because you have now been warned, and I do not know how much longer the door shall remain open. “Get out from among them, and stop touching the unclean thing!”, says the Scripture. Perhaps it is time you listened to the wisdom of God, and put down the childish things of man. Like I said, consider yourself warned.

The Matters of the King
Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision, and Daniel blessed the God of Heaven. Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He causes kings to pass away, and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those who know understanding. He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells in Him.
I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers, who has given me wisdom and might, and has made me know what we ask of You. For You have revealed to us the king’s matter.
Daniel replied before the king and said, The secret which the king has demanded cannot be shown to the king by the wise men, the conjurers, the magicians, or the star-gazing ones. But there is a God in Heaven who reveals secrets, and makes known to King Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head on your bed, are these:
As for you, O king, your thoughts came on your bed, what should happen after this. And He who reveals secrets makes known to you what shall occur. But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living man, but so that the meaning might be made known to the king, and that you might know the thoughts of your heart.

Christ versus the “Church”
Mar 12:32 And the scribe said to Him, You say well, Teacher. You have spoken according to truth, “that God is one,” and “there is no other besides Him;” Mar 12:33 “and to love Him from all the heart”, and from all the understanding, “and from all the soul, and from all the strength;” and “to love one’s neighbor as oneself” is more than all the burnt offerings and the sacrifices. Mar 12:34 And seeing that he answered intelligently, Jesus said to him, You are not far from the kingdom of God. And no one dared to question Him any more.
Mar 12:35 And teaching in the temple, answering, Jesus said, How do the scribes say that Christ is the son of David? Mar 12:36 For David himself said by the Holy Spirit, “Psa 110:1 A Psalm of David. A declaration of Jehovah to my Lord: Sit at My right hand, until I place Your enemies as Your footstool. ” LXX-Psa. 109:1; Mar 12:37 Then David himself calls Him Lord. And from where is He his son? And the large crowd heard Him gladly.
Mar 12:38 And He said to them in His teaching, Be careful of the scribes, those desiring to walk about in robes, and greetings in the markets, Mar 12:39 and chief seats in the synagogues, and chief couches in the dinners, Mar 12:40 those devouring the houses of widows, and for a pretense praying at length. These will receive more abundant judgment.
Mar 12:41 And sitting down opposite the treasury, Jesus watched how the crowd threw copper coins into the treasury. And many rich ones threw in much. Mar 12:42 And coming, one poor widow threw in two lepta (which is a kodrantes). Mar 12:43 And having called His disciples near, He said to them, Truly I say to you that this poor widow has thrown in more than all of those casting into the treasury. Mar 12:44 For all threw in out of that abounding to them, but she out of her poverty threw in all, as much as she had, her whole livelihood.
Mar 13:1 And as He was going out of the temple, one of His disciples said to Him, Teacher, Behold! What kind of stones and what kind of buildings! Mar 13:2 And answering, Jesus said to him, Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon a stone which shall not be thrown down.
The quake hit at 11:51 p.m. about 110 miles east of the capital, Taipei, in the East China Sea, the bureau said. It occurred 118 miles below the ocean floor.
On Saturday, similar problems were found in Balakot, where 25-year-old Mohammed Qassim took shelter from the rain under the corrugated roof of a collapsed building.
He was searching desperately for a tent to keep his five children, as well as the families of two brothers, warm.
“For the sake of God, please give me one tent so that three families can live,” he recalled telling aid groups. “They said no.” He’s hoping to at least get plastic sheets.
Malawian President Bingu wa Mutharika has declared a national disaster over the food shortages which are threatening almost half the population.
In a radio and TV broadcast, the president said the crisis had worsened and the country needed more help.
UN estimates suggest about five million people will need aid after Malawi’s worst harvest for more than a decade.
It is a “fine” thing to talk about the morality of people, especially other people, if one listens to the evangelical right, or the evangelical atheists, or the President of the US.
