Meanwhile Back The Oil Mess

US says BP move to curb oil leak ‘no solution’

The success of a move by oil giant BP to curb a leak in the Gulf of Mexico is “not clear” and the technique provides “no solution”, the US has said.

It was responding to BP’s move to siphon oil from the leaking well head to a tanker on the surface.

A government statement said it would not rest until the leak was permanently sealed and the spill cleaned up.

Out of sight out of mind no more.

I’m sure this will be updated through out the day.

Worth a watch.

We can haz energy policy now?

As Senator Condescending Alexander ascertained from the guys you wouldn’t buy a used car from, one third of US production comes from the Gulf. What percentage is from shelf as opposed to deep water wasn’t articulated. This seems to be a feature, not a bug, of Congressional hearings.

Any rationale way forward is going to have to balance all of the facts.

The weatherman notes that the spill overlays are not showing what the extent and where the under water oil is.
