Should Have Read The Guardian

Larry Johnson never supported Obama, an understatement to be sure, but that may be part of the reason I read him, although mostly because I have always liked his analysis of various world events, and share with him, like Col. Lang, only those political positions common to all Americans. That commonality is often overlooked in the hyperbole of politics, but it is there for anyone wishing to see.

Just to keep the record on the outing of Davis straight, it broke two days previously in the Guardian, which I blogged about earlier, as did others.

Based on interviews in the US and Pakistan, the Guardian can confirm that the 36-year-old former special forces soldier is employed by the CIA. “It’s beyond a shadow of a doubt,” said a senior Pakistani intelligence official. The revelation may complicate American efforts to free Davis, who insists he was acting in self-defence against a pair of suspected robbers, who were both carrying guns.

That it took the Post and other American papers two more days report the story is not surprising, the delay probably a reflection of Mr. Johnson’s concerns, and the fact of doing so to acknowledge in their papers what were already well known facts by many in America and the world already.

While I’m at it, these reports sound interesting in parts, to me.

London, Feb 20(ANI): Double murder-accused US official Raymond Davis has been found in possession of top-secret CIA documents, which point to him or the feared American Task Force 373 (TF373) operating in the region, providing Al-Qaeda terrorists with “nuclear fissile material” and “biological agents,” according to a report.

Yeah I can write those report things too, gotta link?

Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) is warning that the situation on the sub-continent has turned “grave” as it appears that open warfare is about to break out between Pakistan and the United States, The European Union Times reports.

By going to the European Union Times dated the 20th as well, you get further confirmation of what the Guardian was reporting, including,

A number of US media outlets learned about Davis’s CIA role but have kept it under wraps at the request of the Obama administration. A Colorado television station, 9NEWS, made a connection after speaking to Davis’s wife. She referred its inquiries to a number in Washington which turned out to be the CIA. The station removed the CIA reference from its website at the request of the US government.

Further reporting on the incident, along with conjectures.

All of this is going on under the radar.

Update: There’s more here.
