We don’t need no stinkin’ scientific inquiries,

The coalition government is ditching the requirement to seek scientific advice before setting drugs policy.

As part of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 government must take, or at least listen to, advice from the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs. That committee needed to have at least six scientists on it.

We call it the Misuse of Government Acts. Others call it the touchy feely approach to mismanagement and tyranny.

Crunch. Ugly job report surprises experts. Official rate hits 9.8%. U6 remains at 17%

Non-farm payroll employment in November came in far lower than expected, according to today’s job report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The expert consensus of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg had estimated that 168,000 total jobs were added last month. But the seasonally adjusted BLS report put that number at 39,000. The private sector added 50,000 jobs, also well below expectations of 160,000. Government at all levels laid off 11,000 workers.

New research out of the University of Toronto Scarborough shows it might. In two studies that tested participants’ willingness to behave immorally, the UTSC team discovered people will behave badly – if it doesn’t involve too much work on their part.
