The truth is hard to bear, but the facts are clear. America’s wars have been fought in order to advance Washington’s power, the profits of bankers and armaments industries, and the fortunes of US companies. Marine General Smedley Butler said, “ I served in all commissioned ranks from a second Lieutenant to a Major General. And during that time, I spent most of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street, and for the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism.”
This is probably not the best excerpt from Mr. Robert’s piece, but it ties in nicely to the title, which more important :-/. It also ties into Lindorff’s piece,
I was shocked to find myself in almost perfect agreement today with a recent column by the neoconservative pundit Charles Krauthammer.
Usually Krauthammer has me groaning, but yesterday his column nailed it.
He was writing about what he correctly observes as the end of “American hegemony” in the global political sphere.
This will of course make better sense if you read the two articles, but I’m confident you won’t, and will take this post as definitive in forming your perception of it, and thus a threepeat. Because ignorance is no excuse, but bliss is as bliss does.
If you think that I am insulting your intelligence again, then by all means do rectify it.
