In the president’s first remarks about the dispute since Dianne Feinstein, the chairwoman of the Senate intelligence accused the CIA of a cover-up and intimidation directed at her staff, Obama said it was not a matter for the White House to “wade into at this point”.
We are not a nation of children, needing to be protected from knowing the foibles and follies of men and women in power. Nor should the bi-partisanship coverup in this, and other affairs, be ignored for the sake of the perception of a constitutional government.
Rome didn’t fall in a day either, but over decades of erosion of its’ institutional foundations, such as we are seeing here, with our media, and our political and economic institutions. From those whom much is given, much is expected, and should be demanded. We are well within our rights to ask the titans of our government, and the captains of our industries, have you no honor, have you no shame?
